Day 14 of 90
When I was 1.5 years old, my parents shipped me to Taiwan to live with my grandparents.
6 months later, they flew back to bring me home.
Upon arrival, my Mom sensed something odd.
She noticed I wanted to speak but, no words.
My forehead poured sweat.
Confused, she discovered a huge bleeding cut on my thigh.
My tiny hands grasping my leg tight.
What kind of baby doesn't cry when they are in pain?
Why do we suffer in silence when all we want to do is scream?
Word count: 89
Writing prompt: Write about a time you suppressed an emotion.
Mutiple Choice: Why do we suppress our emotions?
a) We learned at a young age that if we cry, no one will listen.
b) We believe our emotions are burdens meant to be carried alone.
c) We were hurt in a way that would cause shame to someone else, so we protect that person by pretending we are okay.
d) We never learned how to express.
e) All or none or a combination of them
First, let me say... I think it's all of the above and then some! Overall I think it's a habit many of us have picked up for various reasons and influences.
Second, I want to say... GIRL! I swear the more I read your work and connect with you the more I ADORE you!
I JUST wrote about the importance of emotions TODAY!
I would say all the above.
